“Aunt Ro, do you think Valley would like to play with the swans? Maybe we can take her and the kittens to the lake later?” Benjamin asked as Rowena led her nephew down the steps. She chuckled and shook her head. “I don’t think cats and swans play well together, my darling. And Valley’s kittens are too young to go anywhere just yet.”
“Oh,” the little boy looked disappointed. To her mother’s great dismay, Charles and Margaret’s son had turned out to be a lover of cats just like his aunt. The recent arrival of Valley’s kittens had been the highlight of the little boy’s year so far. He appeared genuinely crushed at the thought of not being able to take the kittens to the lake to visit his second favorite animals, the swans.
